Dear Family and Friends,

Did you know that 1 in 68 children is diagnosed with autism?  Did you know that autism is the fastest growing neurodevelopmental disorder in the World?  Did you know that since 2012 the prevalence of autism has increased 40%?  Well, it is true.

By supporting Walk Now for Autism Speaks Canada, you are helping change the future for people impacted by autism spectrum disorder.  Your support will fund scientific research, local and national services, advocacy, and awareness, and ultimately making a difference!

I participate in Autism Speaks Canada Walk because Walk dollars make an impact on the autism community.

As the prevalence of autism continues to rise, it’s more important than ever to fund research and services so that people with autism have the opportunity to meet their full potential.  In fact, Walk dollars have gone towards training Early Childhood educators, helping newly diagnosed families navigate the health care system, and young adults learning skills to help them find jobs  – and that is just to name a few.

Here are some of the things that we’ve learnt about autism in the last 10 years…

  1. Autism can be reliably diagnosed by age 2.
  2. High-quality early intervention does more than develop skills.
  3. One third of children and adults with autism are nonverbal.
  4. Most adults with autism (84%) remain living with their parents.
  5. Over 80% of adults with autism are unemployed.

There’s still so much more to learn…and you can help.

By making a donation and supporting my efforts, you are making a difference to the autism community.

Thank you for your support!

Team Evan
