Dear Family and Friends,
I participate in Autism Speaks Canada Walk because Walk dollars make an impact on the autism community. But more importantly, I participate in this walk because my big sister, Teaghen, is on the Spectrum. Before July of 2017 came, Teaghen was considered to be pretty well #1 in my world. Yes, my husband (Andrew) is aware of this, and he's okay with it too. In fact, I'd say she's pretty high up there in his books as well. Once my daughter, Vera was born, there has been a pretty strong tie for first. Luckily, Teaghen is a very proud aunt, and has a big fan in her niece. As Vera gets a little bit older, there is a truly incredible bond developing between these two beauties; and I would move mountains for either one of them, if I could.
Some of the resources that are available nowadays were simply not there when my sister and I were growing up. That's why I think this walk is so important. Let's keep raising money to go towards the research, education, and any and all resources to help these Au-some Autism families.
As the prevalence of autism continues to rise, it’s more important than ever to fund research and services so that people with autism have the opportunity to meet their full potential. In fact, Walk dollars have gone towards training Early Childhood educators, helping newly diagnosed families navigate the health care system, and young adults learning skills to help them find jobs – and that is just to name a few.
Last year, I personally managed to raise somewhere around $1,500 for this walk, with our team total reaching over $3,000. This year, I'd love your help to make these numbers SKY ROCKET above and beyond these numbers!!
By making a donation and supporting my efforts, you are making a difference to the autism community.
Any and all contributions are a great help, and mean a lot to me. If you wish to donate in person, please give me a shout/text/fb message.
