Welcome to My Personal Page
Dear Family and Friends,
As you all know my son, Nathan has Autism. He has had to overcome so many obstacles and faces so many challenges in his life. It's a work in progress, with many successes and some set backs. This year has been a big transition for Nathan. He started high school, which has actually been a very positive experience for him. He has been able to start fresh, without all the stigmas and past difficulties following him. As a Mom, I often worry about what the future holds and whether or not Nathan will be accepted as he is. That being said, when I listen to him talk about all the things he is passionate about and witness how incredible his mind is, I feel that he will be OK. Actually, I feel that he is and will continue to be extraordinary, he just needs a little extra compassion and understanding.
Did you know that 1 in 66 children is diagnosed with autism? Did you know that autism is more common than childhood cancer, juvenile diabetes and paediatric aids combined? Did you know that in the last 7 years, the prevalence of autism has increased 78%? Did you know that there are tens of millions of adults living with autism spectrum disorder? These numbers are truly staggering.
By donating to Autism Speaks Canada you are taking the first step towards changing the future for people with autism. Your support will light the way to better research, broader services, earlier diagnoses and treatment, greater awareness and advocacy, and most of all, a brighter future for people diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder.
I will be participating in The Autism Speaks Canada Walk 2019. This cause is very important to me, which is why I’m asking you to support my fundraising efforts by making a donation.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!
Sarah & Family
